Just Had A Slide (snow)

Recommended Posts

allye

Just coming back from my mates (mechanic ironically) and I slid gracefully and very slowly into a small hench at about 5mph! Not physical damage other than a slightly dented wheel (and ego) the sterring is now really heavy when turning left but frees up when turning right. So my question is what have I bent!? Had a look and can't see anything onbvious.

Cheers Ali

Check your top mount isn't domed, shouldn't be at that speed but you never know.

Front anti roll bar? It doubles up and locates the bottom arms on the base models. You might even have just shunted it across.

if you cant see anything it could be the internals of the rack slightly off, was the wheel on lock at the point of impact?

I had a similar problem with the steering weighted differently depending on direction. In total I changed strut top bearings and mounts, one TRE and the drop links, then had the tracking done. This solved it, though which bit of work solved it I don't know!
