I remember a few of those, particularly Mick Quaife's Escort.

I've known Barry Lee for a number of years, as mentionned there. He used to Autocross with my dad, and i work with him at the rallyschool.

And i'll dig out some later pictures of this later too;

I saw one at a test day at Snetterton in about '98 painted Kawasaki Green too, awesome things!

If you take the time to look through this thread there are some awesome cars on show.

There’s even a cheeky 205 & 309 thrown in too!

Some great classics there, i used to have a bmw like the one in the first picture, so cool.

The 309 is orange now if it's the same car, I think I posted some pics a while back.

Met him once at a Hot Rod race, genuinely a nice guy and a great driver!

Think he drove a Talbot Sunbeam back then, well what once resembled one maybe.

Had he been born in the US he would likely have been a multiple Nascar winner

I've met Barry Lees ex sparring partner, George Polley a few times, and Georges son, they are a really nice bunch of guys.... whatever happened to the nice racers?

I have seen that Blue 309 racing at Brands Hatch, way back when , there was another one too, along with some other maddddd thundersaloons!

Quite a bit i should think!! Although it is basically a spaceframe with suspension hung off that, i should think the majority of the actual running gear is Sierra-derived.

Was the 309 not originally built by the Editor of Fast Car Magazine?

Must have been back around '87/'88 or thereabouts.

That 309 looks awesome! Maybe a little too wide-track though. :)
