Rev Counter Rises While Cranking

Hi guys,

 

My MI16 developed a massive misfire the other day, which was cured when I fitted a new ignition amp.

Ever since, the rev counter is bouncing up to 5-6000 rpm when cranking, which im pretty sure it shouldnt do. Any thoughts?

(I'm pretty sure I have a bad earth somewhere due to some other issues, but I'm hoping someone will have an idea which helps me track down where it might be...or it could be something else entirely)

Loose engine / gearbox earth strap from the gearbox mounting stud or crappy battery negative connection.

 

Got baffled by this once before & the earth stud nut was loose which was the cause then.

Good call, all my issues are fixed now I've put new earth straps in and moved the battery earth connection to a different point on the bodywork.
