Silly Question Ref. Strut Brace 205..

Recommended Posts

frobes2

Hi everybody,

I have just purchased an adjustable strut brace off SPGTi for not alot.. so firstly thanks to him.

I rubbed it down and sprayed it black yesterday and fitted it this morning, however, me being a complete idiot I fitted it over an earth lead then thought, " No, move the earth lead..." which is what I did.

Unfortunately when I was re-tightening the nuts onto the studs (weird size, by the way) I over tightened one and snapped the bloody stud..

I almost fainted, as it was all going so well.. You all know how easy a strut brace is to fit!!!!

My question then is;

Does this matter, that I now have three nuts on the n/s strut and only two on the o/s???

Thanks for your time..

Scott

It will probably be OK on two, I've run them like that for short periods with no problems and I'm sure others have too. However its easy to repair, just drill the snapped stud out and feed a new bolt up from in the wheelarch.

My zx only has two as standard though they are opposing and M8, my 205 has a repaired stud just like Jackherer suggested.

Yeah Nice one Steve, looked a bit rubbish but transformed it with a rub down and some black paint..

Still waiting for my ph2 standard downpipe and system off some ebay bloke who promised he sent it over a week ago now but just hope it turns up at work tomorrow, then up on the rollers to sort the carbs out and then I'll have to concentrate on little bits of body work..

Thanks again,

Scott..
