Hdi Brakes.

Recommended Posts

dee205

In the process of getting the 205 roadworthy and tbh with the brakes sitting for a feew years with little use and in need of renewing I'm thinking about going down the 307 HDi route.

Looked at the guide on the homepage and it looks handy enough and sounds like a good upgrade at the money.

Just looking opinions from people who run them already. Have you had any problems with them? I don't intend to replace the m/c. Just yokes and caliper, disc and pads.

I also take it the braided hoses I have will fit them ok too.

It's a 1.6 GTi with an Mi16 engine in it too.

Cheers.

Do they?

Using 1.9 rims btw. Hope I don't have to get 1.9 hubs and shafts to get it right. Can't be arsed with doing that unless they're free!

very good, very heavy.

you need 1.9 hubs and therefore drive-shafts because of the offset difference.

you'll be adding about 5kgs per side of unsprung weight, you would have to offset with lighter wheels.

its easyier going the gti6 route. alot of people who brake them sell the hubs, disks, pads, caliper and carrier as one wich is wat you will need as you have 1.6 hubs.you will need the 1.9 drive shafts also.and you carnt run wheel weights on the inside of the standard 1.9 wheels becuase of clearance

dont let it put you off though cus it truely is worth it!

Looking a bit more into it I might just stick with a decent set of discs and pads.

ECP does Pagid ones which I've used in the past and found them good.

Right, Here's goes what you need

1. Base model hubs

2. Longer Front Brake Flexi's

Thats it

And Or

3. 1.9 Hubs and Shafts

But if upgrading stick to GTi6 callipers as the pads are Cheaper, as no one in there right mind use's uprated pads on there 307 HDi

I'm running 307 hdi brakes with a 406mc and mintex 1144 pads (which cost an am and a leg for these).

I've never experience anything that stops as quick, good setup but as Kyepan says they are heavy.

I would recommend the setup ;)

Cheers for all the info. There still seems to be a bit of mixed feelings about hdi or GTi6 brakes on the 205. Extra stopping power Vs extra weight etc..
