Replacing Sunroof With Perspex

Recommended Posts

24seven

My car has already had the sunroof removed and a plate riveted over the hole, but recently it's started leaking in the rain and is frankly getting on my tits no end!

Is there any reason why I can't drill the rivets out and bond/rivet/bolt a perspex plate over instead? I can see it being a lot less unsightly than the plate that's there now, plus I can see if the sealant is beginning to fail at all and it saves the risk of making a mess of colour matching the roof again.

Can't see why not.

But use Polycarbonate, NOT Perspex. Much stronger and more flexible.

I thought of this before but the sunroof glass isn't flat so it might not be ideal.
