Windscreen Seal

Recommended Posts

feb

As above,

My car has a sunroof but I can only get hold of a window seal for a non sunroof car. Are they interchangeable?

As far as I know the seal for the sunroof car protrudes a bit more at the top so as to deflect the air when the sunroof is open but would I have any problems with it?

Cheers

Cheers, I just ordered the last one available :lol:

Expensive at £51 delivered  (as Peugeot quoted me £28) but he had the last one (no dealer has it in the country) so I had no choice.

On a side note, the guy I was speaking to (peugeot parts specialist) said that even if there were a few of us making an order they won't be able to manufacture any and it has to be 500 or 1000 in order to make it worth.

How did people rebuild their cars from scratch if some parts are not available anymore?

The lack of parts is going to make ownership difficult....

It's been a couple of years, but Autoglass had them on the shelf when I had a new screen fitted - on insurance, too!

Problem is Autoglass quoted me £100 to replace the rubber (supplying the part myself!) so I wouldn't want to find out how much they would charge for the seal.

Some insurances pay for the rubber and others don't as I found out by calling windscreen specialists.

When I had my windscreen replaced a couple of years ago the rubber was not included and they re-used the old one (one of the reasons it is leaking now I suspect).

I think you get a new seal with the screen when you buy them from Peugeot, why else would a bronze tint non-sunroof screen have a different part number to a sunroof one where the only difference is the seal itself?

they're about £100 plus vat

Hmm, tempted by a new windscreen then tbh, as mine is delaminating in the corners and going all misty. Plus its a bit worn and scratched where the wipers have been. Hope they can still get screens then..

The lipped ones seem to cause more Rust issue's along the top of the screen as it holds water more than the plain seal

You might find you get wind noise from the sunroof with wrong windscreen seal fitted ;)

Not sure it WILL do it,but on a m8's 309 Gti with the wrong seal fitted he gets alot of wind noise from sunroof

As above I was told that it was to channel air over the sunroof. With the amount of wind noise it makes with correct seal, I dread to think what it would be like with a non-sunroof one.

My Gti with s/r has a flat seal fitted and doesn't make a noticeable difference, but I do have a deflector,too.DSC00108.jpg

Hmm. are people sure the windscreen comes with a seal? I can only see one part number for the windscreen- either a bronzed one or a standard one..

Windscreen seals are listed in Autofive's website and are £36 (feel stupid for having ordered one from elsewhere now).

Not sure if they stock them though, worth giving them a call.

I agree ith Miles, water seems to collect more on the top area of lipped seals.
