405 Alarm Goes Off Randomly.

Recommended Posts

Recently my 405 alarm has started going off at random times for no reason. Sometimes it will go a few times before giving up. I've got round this by locking it with the key but wondered if there was a likely cause or a way to disable the alarm so I can still lock it with the remote.

I might be wrong but I think my dad had a similar problem when we had a late phase 2 405 GTX and there was some sort of switch or something in the nearside of the front of the engine bay that you could turn the alarm off with.

I was told something similar but can't see anything obvious, if anyone has any idea where it is.... <_<

Not always fitted, I found the same thing on my old Lemans, It was in the handbook but not the car

Just unplug it, If it's like the 306 one it doesn't do much and is not part of the engine system

Random switch?

To disable the alarm you need to unplug the control box, unfortunately that disables the remote central locking.

Which is what I didn't really want to do. :) At the moment I lock it with the key but double tap the key fob so can still unlock it...

If its anything like the 306 alarm (and as bad  ) then disconnecting the interior sensors seems to stop them going off.

Put sellotape over the interior sensors and see if that helps....
