Intercooler Pipework

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, after having a new found love for the 205 Ive decided to do a little work. Currently pretty much std XU10J2TE from a 406 with a R5 intercooler and a BMC CDA.

Now I have an XU9 inlet manifold and GTI-6 throttle body I might try out. These came with the car and cost me nothing. I also want to reroute the pipework as its a bit patchwork and would benefit from tidying up. Id also consider a better intercooler and a new 2.5" bore exhaust (currently 2").

Pipework wise I was thinking:

2.5" from BMC to turbo (turbo has 2.5" inlet approx). Using the flexible neoprene tubing for this. Seems to work very well.

2" outlet on turbo to intercooler. hard piped with silicone elbows

2.25" outlet on intercooler to throttle body (gti6 is 3" bore if I remember right). Most likely use flexible tubing again as its going to be difficult to get it piped back up from the intercooler to the throttle body.

Any thoughts? particularly on pipe diameter at particular points.

cheers.

Size wise your okay. I'd defo go for hard pipe from the turbo to TB even if its hard work to route it.
