Battery Query

Recommended Posts

Hello all - how's your Friday going?

I've just ordered a battery to replace my leaky one. Now I ordered it from Eurocarparts and they were given the correct information ie: Battery for a 1990, Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI.

My current set-up in the engine bay is a normal clamp battery terminal and a screw version on the other terminal - question is - is this the norm? The battery I got has 2 clamp terminals - arrgghh!!

I don't know what to do - is the battery wrong or is the clamp set-up weird or......? Can I change them around easily, where do I get bits from...!!! This is a tad frustrating as it should be a simple task, now made difficult.... :)

pretty much, there's the outer sleeve you need to pop off and the inner barbed section that has the threaded post attached.

Funny, I was using the search function trying to find out info on the screw type battery terminal and stumbled across my own OP :P

I've been chopping out my brown multiplug, which obviously meant taking out battery, hoses, AFM, etc but when connecting up my battery the screw terminal sleeve thingy snapped.

Where can I get a replacement, is it an item a Motor Factors or Halfords would stock - or am I going to have to rake through the scrappies? <_<

Anyone......????

I replaced mine with a proper clamp terminal after the sleeve split. It still held to the battery but I was worried about it being a bad connection.

You can get them from any motor factor/halfords etc. but make sure you get the negative (smaller diameter than the positive).
