How about Maxsport RB5s road legal slick in soft med hard compounds from DTweeks. 15s start at £58 plus the nasty vat.

I'm going to upset everyone know, Stick to normal road tyres as without the right suspension/set up you will never get to the limit's of Semi Slick's etc, I;ve used road tyres and driven ring's around people on 888's & 048R's in allot less powerfull car's,

Driver training is the most important thing, Spend money on that before anything else and you will be surprized how far you can go.

A good example is the old Stock Hatch, look at the lap times for a std 1.6 GTi

That makes sense - but where does one get some decent driver training? You can get someone to go out with you for half an hour on a track day, but I don't think this does much to help unless you are a complete beginner.

Lots of people that offer coaching out there, buy yourself an autosport mag and flick through the ads at the back. It doesn't come cheap but its worth it.

Cheers Ed, I might just check it out. I've been aware for a while that the progress in improvements with the 205 have been faster than the improvement in my driving skills, but it was particularly obvious when I was at Brands Hatch last November and there were a couple of guys there in 1.6 205s who race quite a bit and although I could leave them behind on the straights, they were all over me on the corners - gotta put a stop to that!

I'm thinking of teaming up with 2 or 3 others for a day, should make it a bit cheaper.
