Oil Leak, Help Please

Recommended Posts

Craig89

I have a rallye with a TU3S distributor and it is leaking oil. I first thought it was coming from where the distributor is bolted to the head (failed o-ring seal) so i replaced the o-ring but oil was still coming out. Next i sealed it with silicone but it was still escaping from somewhere? I took the distributor out and have noticed 2 holes on the underside of it, they look like they should be there but dont know what there for and if this is the possible cause of my leak?

Any help would be great.

Thanks, Craig

Not sure if the XS came with a Ducellier ignition, if the came with the bosch dizzy then that doesn't fit the Rallye engine as it doesn't sit quite right on the head. Also make sure its not the rocker gasket as they terrible on these engine!

It will say Ducellier or Bosch on the dizzy, if its Bosch then you need to change it.

Alright mate, it is a Ducellier distributor and im pretty sure that it is coming from the dizzy. If you have a Ducellier one then could you see if yours have the 2 holes in it like mine? Because them holes are whats puzzling me.

Cheers, Craig

I think that some of the tu3s engines had ducelier distributor. And it is not that uncommon that the distributor itself is leaking. Take the cap off and have a look.

After having it off and striping it down i think it is just well worn therefore letting out. I think my best bet is to find a replacement. Thanks for the help

the distributors use sealants as well, these are often worn out.

try to get a replacement, an exchange dist will only last for some time if the sealents have never been renewed.
