306 Td Power Steering

Recommended Posts

Rallyvan

Going to undertake the conversion of the 306 td into my 1.8d 205, and know that i have to get rid of the power steering pump which is not a problem because i don't already have it. But if i get rid of the power steering pump surely i have to use a shorter belt, have i got this right or am i missing the point??

Any help appreciated Cheers lads

oz.

It's only the auxillary belt that'll be shorter. The cam belt will be fine. You may be able to find a non PS engine and use the belt from that***

I'd assume you're going to put on a PS unit from a 106 or similar?

I think*** someone else - I know of him as DieselRob (welshpug knows him) might be using the 306 engine in their 205 so it may be worth asking for tips etc.

***don't believe everything i say.

Hi mate, glad to here your starting on your conversion.

I take it your losing the power steering because your 205 is non power steering. Still a good idea as it makes everything easier.

Yer you do need a shorter belt. The one off your 205 will fit probably (but don't hold me to that). If not I think some 306 non turbo diesels don't have power steering so could use a belt from them. Maybe worth phoning up your local parts supplier to see.

Good Luck

Also you need the bracket from non PAS to hold your alternator.
