Recommended Posts

I have a problem with my 1.9 mi at higher revs. The oil pressure is dropping off. Any idears what I should look at apart from the bolt on the crank.

I'd start with a proper mechanical oil pressure gauge and see if it actually IS dropping off at high revs. The standard guessometer is not to be trusted.

Yup, I've had problems with a sender reporting the pressure dying off at high revs when, in fact, it wasn't.

Change the female spade connector to it.

I have this same problem with my 8 valve. Again it is down to a bad connection, most likely to be the spade connector.

Thanks for the replies. TBH I had not thought of it being an electrical problem. I think because the way in witch the gauge is dropping. What I mean is @ 5000rpm the pressure gauge is on the 3rd white line by the time it gets to 6500rpm it is down on the 1st white line (the one just above the red).

If I lift off the throttle I can get the oil pressure anywhere between the 1st and 3rd white lines by adjusting the revs, it’s a very liner and predictable response I would have thought is it was a bad connection it would be a bit more erratic.

Its goes without saying I will be looking at the pressure gauge sender and wiring first thing.

Hi, today I was in Monza for a trackday and for the first time I could see the oil pressure dropping down in the long time revving in 5th gear :-(

I am pretty sure the oil pressure was good so, shall I fit a new gauge sender first?
