Blowing Exhaust

I recently had my car put on a dyno to see what power it was making, i was a bit dissapointed when the results showed that it had lost 8bhp and 10lb/ft.

Ive just discovered that the exhaust is blowing where the down pipe meets the manifold, the centre section is also blowing. Could this explain the lack of power and torque? Thanks

Possibly, although there are many more reasons why the dyno may be inaccurate.

Surely it wouldn't account for 8bhp would it?

 

When you say it has lost power, is that from a previous dyno run or from standard book figures?

Its lost it from the book figure, i think il get it fixed and do another power run. Are the mi16 engines very sensitive to changes in the exhaust? Thanks

What milage is the engine on? has it been rebuilt?

 

A small loss on a high milage engine is expected i'd have thought but worth fixing and checking of course.

Im not sure what the millage is on the engine and i dont think its been rebuilt it has good compression tho. The exhaust is a bit of a bodge up to be honest, looks like Egor designed and welded it lol.
