Fuel Pump Not Priming

Recommended Posts

feb

My car seems to be running rich when cold and once it stalled on me it couldn't restart. In that occasion I didn't hear the fuel pump priming. I could smell petrol though. I left it for 20 minutes or so and played with the bunch of cables on the right of the steering column (tachymetric relay connectors etc.) and it then started fine.

What could be causing this? Dodgy connections around the tachymetric relay area or something else?

It hasn't happened again during the last week but I am worried if this happens again...

Cheers:)

I'd put my money on the relay playing up, when I had a 1.6 it used to get hot, sometimes too hot and the car used to cut out and would restart when the relay had cooled down.

You mean the tachymetric relay on the right hand side of the dash?

I had that replaced 2 years ago as I had similar problems but at the time it turned out to be some dodgy solderings around the relay that a previous owner had done.
