Thanks for your reply. It is clean and straight. Iv wanted a 309 for a while but getting a good one is pretty hard, this one was owned by psooc member for 5 years,he's spent a lot of money on it and its solid.had to travel 300miles to get it though.

I have to say that is a good example, like mine in condition wise.

That looks gorgeous, can you still get the remotes from Pug? if not, maybe an alarm with a remote link would be a good idea anyway?

I asked at Peugeot a while back and a matched receiver and remote was just under £200. In the end I finished getting the gubbins from a 405 series 2 albeit with the remote built into the key.

Ironically enough a few weeks after getting the above, I then found an original separate remote and remote, which never got fitted to the car as I had a CAT1 alarm fitted and use that to lock and unlock the doors

That was the reason why i didnt go to Peugeot,i thought they would be pretty expensive.

Did you mean you have a remote and reciever? do you know if you can get a blank remote and code it to the car or can you order a remote with the correct code for your car? Or is the only way to get a matched remote and reciever?

Yeah its been moved to the drivers side. Im kind of gutted youve seen under the bonnet,im not into the coloured slam panel and pipes look,i wanted to change it before anyone saw it :( .

I got it for £1000 in the end with the original interior aswell which ill sell. I know 309's arnt worth as much as 205's but i think it was a fair price, hopefully 309's will go up in value like the 205's (i did say hopefully  )

Thanks for everyones nice comments aswell

The remotes aren't programmable like they are with newer cars, you need a matching remote and receiver.

The only other option is to try ordering a new remote from Peugeot, giving them the code that's printed on the receiver. However, depending on who you ask this service is either no longer available, or the remotes are built to order and ludicrously expensive.

Hence why I said fit an alarm with central locking interface.

May end up around same price

I went through this recently for my 205 and ended up buying a new key fob and receiver for £132.00.

There are 3 different makes of receiver: Valeo, Neiman & Kierkert, the make and code number are on them. I know the keys are no longer available for the Neiman one, not sure about the other two.

Thanks to all for the info on the remotes, ill ask tomorrow just to see how much a replacement remote would be if they can get one still. If not i may just go down the alarm with remote central locking,at least that may bring my insurance down a bit aswell.

I'd go for the aftermarket setup anyway. The original remotes are infra red and don't really work very well at the best of times. Aftermarket ones are usually ultrasound or RF and work loads better.

I know it sounds odd but i wanted the original set up,iv got a original remote for my 205,and yeah i agree you do have to be pretty much in the car before it will work but i just wanted the original,im not going to pay a fortune for one though. I can probably get an aftermarket alarm with remote lock and full closure for about £180.

I'm with you, I always prefer the original kit - it might not work as well, but it's a 20 year old French motor!

No, we both are

It actually makes me smile when I walk up to the car and hold the fob right up against the window and all the lock motors whirr into life - sad.
