Harnesses To Harness Bar - Help

Recommended Posts

Atari Boy

I have a set of 3 point Sabelt harnesses, I also have a SD cage with harness bar.

Currently I am fixing the harnesses to the car via the rear seatbelt fixing holes, for various reasons I won't bore you with I want to use the harness bar instead. My problem is that the end loop of the harness does not undo and therefore, how can I fix the harness to the bar?

I have been thinking about ways round the problem and don't want to weld anything.

As I see it could either:

1) fabricate some sort of metal hoop that goes round the harness bar and has a eye bolt

2) try and use a crutch strap looped round the bar then attach to the existing harness

I don't believe either are perfect solutions to the problem but I don't want to buy new harnesses.

Can anyone think of a better way round the problem.

Many thanks

Jonny

PS, if my spelling is crap, apoligies, iPhones are great but they have no spell check!

Either buy new harnesses to suit the harness bar, or leave them as they are. Don't mess about with seatbelt attachment.

You could have a Harness eye boss or eyelet welded to the cage, either that or the options above, some nice new 3" 4/5/6pt harnesses i'd opt for, so nice to use with decent buckle and releases.

Get some proper seat belt adjusters and loop the belt around the bar. If fitted properly, they will lock the belt around the bar.
