Engine Painting

Hi all this might be a stupid question so go easy but am i right in thinking that if i paint the block black the under bonnet temp is going to be higher than if it were silver as black attracts heat? just wondered as if the body is painted white (under the bonnet) it will reflect enginge heat back towards the block which would then absorb the heat sorry if its a daft question but you dont know unless you ask.

Why? Iron blocks usually painted black as factory default.

I can't really see the paint colour making all that much difference to be honest.

Black radiates more heat than silver/white whilst it will absorb more heat as well black, it is the heat source, so the radiant effect will be greater.

Doubt it will make much difference but a black engine will make it much harder to spot oil leaks!
