It's the usual symptoms of an old badly set up 8v. Everything you need to know about how to sort it is covered in the Haynes manual. Likewise, it's been covered a gazillion times on this forum by lots of very clever enthusiasts. But then you've probably seen that when you did a search. You did do a search, didn't you? :)

I'm not going to give you any guidance on this, as to be prefectly frank, although I know most of the basic s*it about how to get an 8v running right, I can't really articulate most of it and I can't gaurantee my info would be accurate.

All I'll say on the subject is, as a new member, prove you can help yourself by doing some searching. If you don't, you'll end up with lots of sarky replies, or simply be offered no help at all, and then you'll get the wrong impression of the forum. This, like so many other questions asked by new members, has been covered so many times before. There's not many people who like to waste their key strokes repeating it all again.

None of that is supposed to sound harsh, so apologies if it does.
