Well, there has been a lot done since the last update!!

All the paint work has been finished including the trims resprayed black and then fitted,

The interior is built back up and a few other tidy up jobs done,

Next thing was to test the car and run in the engine, so we went to a trackday and put about 70miles on her, to my surprise nothing broke or fell off!! lol

Right time to drive her in anger, so went to our 1st hill of the season and just settled in to things, I was happy to be as close as I was over a year ago with the 1900 engine,

Next hill turned out to be a real good run just beatin by 2tenths for 3rd, I also noticed the back was a bit too soft so had to sort things out before the next event,

Last weeks hill started of well but oil on the hill stopped play early and I'm still not too happy with the back end, on the list of things to do, lol

I dont have any build up pics to update yet so here is some from the last 2 events,

I have a few things to sort out tomorrow so there should be more updates soon

While I was working at the rear end yesterday I noticed the P/S wheel towing in, I 1st thought the stub pin was bent,

Looking at it more and poking about I have now found slight movement in the trailing arm, so I'll need to fit new bearnings,

While it is striped I am thinking of upgrading the torsion bars as the back end always felt too soft and liked to lean alot,

The beam is a 1600 with 19mm bars,

What bars would be a good upgrade without going too mad and having to change other bits?

Cheers

What sort of dampers are you running? 21mm bars might be a good upgrade.

I had Koni but changed to Bilstein thinking shocks would sort it lol

I have Bilstein V36-0547/8 in the front with Eibach Springs and B46-1038 going in the back,

They are only GpN/Challenge spec stuff, cant' go to Coilovers just yet lol

I've done a wee bit of googling there and can only see PTS 21mm bars,

Is there any other pug that has 21mm bars fitted as standard that I can use,

Cheers

I dont think there is bars from any other pug that will fit.I seen i think it is "Anthony" on here can get any size of bars you want. You could send him a pm.

You have the car looking very well.Do you notice much difference with the 1.6 in it now?

Cheers Lad,

The 1600 seems more driveable? and the old 1900 was dead!!

The times with the 16 are quicker but then again it's a totally different car now lol,

I was hoping to get bars out of something else to fit but I'll PM "Anthony" and see what he says,

How's your wee bus going, anymore events before the end of the year?

My car is going allright at the min. There was not really much on over the summer.Last time I was out was the end of June I done a grass autocross,it was good fun but rough enough.I just put a new back axle in the car there at the weekend with disc brakes and all new bearings, used 306 trailing arms,I put in a bias valve and hydraulic handbrake too.I am doing Sligo autocross on sunday and then I am out again in Cavan autocross at the end of the month.I should have throttle bodies tomorrow too but they wont be fitted for a while,I got them made with the lad on rallyforums,he sent me some pics and they look like a good job.

When are you out again? Is there many hillclimbs left this year?

@ alync406

Fair bit of work done to the car now, seen a few pics on here and its looking well,

I'll maybe call down and get a closer look at them TB's, did he make an inlet for you aswell?,

I'd like to go for TB for next year so I must get a price/spec off that fella,

I'm out at Cultra this Saturday, looks to be a good line up, there is a load of old stuff doing demo runs and Kris Meeke is out in his MKll !!

After that there is a few sprints, I'll do 1 of them or a trackday after the 21mm bars and shocks go in as I dont have time to fit them before this Saturday's hill

Best of Luck for Sunday BTW

@Cazzo

Yes he made up the inlet from scratch, and it is honda cbr 600rr bodies I think. They were meant to be €650 but he did'nt have trumpets to suit so he made up adapters to suit jenvey trumpets and did them for €550.They come with throttle position sensor, throttle linkage, fuel rail and injectors.I dont think it is a bad price.

Best of luck for Saturday, sounds like it will be good.Meeke should be good to watch i'd say.

Well it's near coming to an end now after just over a year,

Most of the mechanical things were finished in time to do the last few events of this year,

Then the cosmedic/bodywork stage had to be finished, after that I sent the car off to get the decals fitted,

I went for Louise Aitken Walker 1987 Ulster Rally decals as I remember seeing it on the stages when I was a lot younger

The pics below are from the fella that done the decals, I'll take more pics at the weekend and post them up,

The decals look great on the car, will you have no sprints or anything to do before May? Would like to do mine something like Richard Burns's 205,but I wont be doing anthing like that to it for a good while anyway.

I got a chance to dig her outa the garage today and give it a bit of a clean,

The first event is on the 14th so I'll need to give it a check over and maybe see about taking it out a wee run,

When I had it up on stands I pulled the wheels off and got the tyres changed over on to the SL434's,

Makes a big differance with the darker wheels now changed,

Some pics from today

The brown wire that comes out of the engine loom runs across and in to the shunt box.
