High Idle

Hi all,

 

wonder if anyone can help. 50 miles ago my 205 gti 1989 idled very nicely as it should, over the next 50 miles the idle as got higher, increasing slowly, 1400, 1500, 1600 now 2200rpm

 

how much further it will go I do not know but when you rev it sometimes it revs, goes back to 950rpm then up to the high level.

 

Any ideas? I have touched nothing by the way

Thats the problem, 205's loved being touched, every nock and cranny needs a good rub once in a while.

Probably an air leak somewhere...frequent culprit is the bolt holding the oil filler to the side of the inlet manifold being loose or missing....the threaded hole is open not blind...clever Peugeot!

As above,air leak more than likely.

 

Check throttle cable too,could be sticking.
