Compression Test Results

Recommended Posts

thomasrally

Just done a compression test on all 4 cylinders on our 1.6 and got all 4 around the 180psi - 190psi mark.

Does that sound about right for 10.5:1 compression ratio? It seems pretty damn good!

So long as they're all high-ish and equal, I'd say that's good enough.

Unless you know the accuracy of the compression tester, that's about all you can say, as in my experience compression testers (particularly cheaper ones) significantly vary in accuracy.

For what it's worth, my own rebuilt 1.9 with similar compression to yours was around 210-215psi (cold) on my tester.

How can one test their own tester ?

How cheap is cheap ?

Can you recommend a good accurate tester and where to buy it from ?

Cheers
