Quick Question About Tbs

I once had a page saved (since been deleted) that told me all the diff torsion bar and ARB sizes as per model but now cant seem to find it when i search.

Can anyone tell me how much thicker GTI TBs are to a base model.

As far as I know the Torsion bars for the base model are ~18mm +/- 0.5, the GTI ones are 18.9mm.

 

The ARB on the GTI is ~19mm, but the base model is a skinny 14mm, if present at all.

 

I'm pretty sure the above is accurate, I'll try and find a thread to back it up.

This is the information I'm trying to find just now too, any confirmed info would be great.

The ARB from my XS was 16mm which Anthony also confirmed was the norm.

GTI ARB is 19mm.

Yes, George you are right with the base model ARB being 16mm, I've just been and measured one in the shed.

Ah, not quite! The standard spec rear ARB was 14mm, as used on things like the base 1.4 models. 'The sporty' 1.4 models and some of the TD's had a 16mm rear ARB, then moving up to 19mm for the GTi
