Just a fore runner to the GTi6 box but shorter and more of a pain to work on, so a std Synrco box

would imagine because they have 6 gears and 3 full synchro hubs (and reverse) all squeezed into the space a 5 speed box usually takes up, rather than being longer like the factory 6 speed unit it.

Sadev list a 6 speed gearkit for the BE 5 speed casing, not sure who made the one that the PTS cars used, Group A saxo' and 106's used them with a TU bellhousing to.

Pretty sure they were ZF's, with close ratio gearsets, a plate diff and shafts to match.

These were proper kit, ZF 6 speed Be3/6 straight cut, close ratio, 13x68 final drive, synchro boxes. They were longer boxes to accomodate the sixth gear, and do result in a loss of steering lock. Ran with ZF LSD and ZF driveshafts. Box retailed at 4950 plus vat, shafts at £700 plus vat - each.

Later 306 option was for a BE3 six speed dog gearbox. The 306 challange also ran a six speed close ratio syncro box, although this was not straight cut. More recently Peugeot homolagated a five speed close ratio box for use in the Gti6 in group N, this was syncro , and not straight cut.

Cheaper options today are Avanti/Bacci, or Sadav route for sequential. . . . . .

Cheers, Tony

The box's are fairly easy to work on, Thou you need a very very slim socket to undo the nut on 6th Gear
