Diesel Sump On 1.9 Gti 8cv Engine ?

We have a 1.9 GTi with a rather rusty sump which has holed through & oil is now leaking.

 

Some mentioned that fitting a diesel sump is a good idea as it holds more oil.

 

Can anyone confirm this or advise, if we are repalceing the sump, then which one should we use & what baffling/modifications will be needed, bearing in mind it will be for a track/raly car.

Can you use this on the 1.9 8v without the spacer ?

can't see any issues bar possibly not having an oil temp sender boss, I believe they'd be the same depth as any other iron block XU sump and the 1.6 sump so yes you would have to use it without the Block spacer/stiffener unless you extend your oil pump pickup.
