Metal Under Car Fuel Pipes

Recommended Posts

Ricardo

Hi!

Taken all day to bend and fit both metal pipes. First off I tried to post a question about which pipe was return and which was feed! I lost web connection just as I posted and then two appeared!

Anyway I flared the ends of my copper microbore using a philips screwdriver; an 8mm stud coupling; vise and hammer.

Used an olive on the metal 14mm fitting, 13-14mm petrol clips on flared ends...no leaks!!

The car fired up and idled for about 5 mins then stopped. Started again and revs OK but idle dropped too low then cut out again.

The engine got rained on heavily for 5 mins yesterday when removing the pipes. Could this be why it struggles to idle or could it just be that the system needs to rid itself of any air, or have I got the feed and return wrong?

Feed from the most central pipe near tank under the car to the 14mm coupling then the filter.

Return from the outer pipe to the rubber hose? ? ?

Cheers

Sounds like you need to adjust the idle speed on the TB upwards, after 5 minutes the SAD should start to close, and if the engine isnt getting enough air it will die.

Before I changed the pipes it idled a little high, was planning on replacing the SAD as it starts on low idle and settles after 1 min to about 1100rpm. More concerned with the pipes being wrong if it would idle or not.

OK I got them the right way round I've just looked through the parts booklets "pinned" above. Can't get into Service Box these days!
