Some people on here have a lot more "extreme" setups than that! Very interesting none the less :P

quite interesting that :)

16v crank in an 8v engine, for the fully counterbalanced high RPM stability I think?

and nice small brakes too :P

I take it its a hybrid of tarmac and gravel setups?

No.........gravel setup for the Lombard R.A.C. Rally 1988. It's a basic setup that worked very well.

Anybody know where I can get 20mm torsion bars and a 23mm ARB from. What's fitted to a 205 van???

The rear calipers are what historic Escorts use, the rear brackets are specially made, but what are the hubs off? I've read somewhere that the hubs are machined from the rear drums of a 1.6 gti, or are they a standard item from a 1.9Gti??

The front brakes I've already got as well as the front suspension..........it's just the rear end I'm trying to get sorted now.

they look like standard 1.9 hubs, hard to say from that picture though, calipers look similar to what I've seen on high spec 306's

you can get torsion bars from 309pug (chris penrose) on there

This is the PTS group A rear kit which used to retail at £900 plus VAT. Was designed to fit with the shorter stub pins from the 1600 drum set-up. Was run on the group A 205 and also group A 306.

Gal-Ral used to do a kit of bespoke brackets and machined ford discs using the group A AP calipers.

I have a pair of the calipers on the shelf if you want to make me an offer, they have been on the shelf for a number of years, will need a rebuild/seal kit.

Cheers, Tony

So the hubs could be machined down rear drums then?

Will pm you regarding the calipers

Or the caliper bracket was thinner, using 1900 hubs and the shorter pins? Not sure, but I mocked these up intending to use standard 1900 hubs.

When I convert my axle from drums to discs the first time, I tried to fit the hub nut on without fitting the pins from the 1.9 and wondered why they would'nt fit!!!

I've got a spare set of pins from a 1.6, a hub from a 1.9, and a trailing arm, so I'll chuck them together tomorrow night and see how they fit (without fitting the caliper bracket)

The early PTS rear disk kit used a machined down 1.6 drum to which a 405 solid front disk was bolted to the rear of the drum/hub unit using cap screws which act also as the wheel studs.

I've got a 99% complete kit in the garage, needs a bit of tlc though...must do something with them!
