Swapping Cwp In Gearbox

Recommended Posts

craig_007

I've got a 1600 box on Mi 205,I have a spare 1900 box sitting and I was thinking of fitting 4.4cwp I have sitting into it.

I've never stripped a box before and I was wondering how difficult this would be,Managed to remove, strip, rebuild and refit my engine so I'm not to bad with a spanner but other than remove and refit the gearbox thats as far as I've went !

If anyone can give me a few pointers that would be much appreciated.

Also is there much of a difference between the 1600 box and 1900 with a shorter final drive ?

1600 has a shorter first, the 1900 with a 4.44 is the best budget hybrid box.

Easy enough, not read the articles above. I have done 4 of these for people, no need for bearing pullers or presses if you don't have them. Use a large vice and hold the output shaft between the 3 and 4th gears in the vice (using ally jaws), then knock the shaft out using a lump hammer and some thick (10mm in my case) ally plate to prevent damage. A large vice, pin punches, circlip pliers are really all that's required and time and patience to do it right.

PS interesting to note that my excel spreadsheet found it's way onto the web! Check the file properties!
