Peugeot Coil Pack On Megajolt

Recommended Posts

stuart

Is it possible or do you have to stick to the Ford coil pack to go along with the rest of the EDIS kit?

I want to avoid having custom leads made up (I gather that zx volcane leads fit well?) and also it would fit nicely to the head.

If it does work with Megajolt, which coil pack do I go for?

Thanks in advance

Stu

In theory I imagine that it should work, providing the dwell/charge time is similar for the two coils.

That said, there should be Ford leads that will fit - I've not tried, but from memory the early-mid 90's Kent engine models should have suitable leads for an 8v I'd imagine. Zetec leads won't be suitable, and from what I remember of them, neither will CVH leads. Best thing to do is goto Halfords or a motorfactors and go through the various Ford HT leads until you find some that are the right length and fitment.

Thanks for the reply but I'm not sure to be honest about charge / dwell time or how I would find out.

Is anyone able to enlighten me? Also, if there are standard Ford leads that will fit the 8v right, which ones will I need?

I have used a Ford EDIS and peugeot coil pack for an ms2 setup and there have been no problems except getting the wires the wrong way round on the coil pack.

Just out of interest how have you attached the trigger wheel VR sensor mount to the block??

I used the original 7mm bolts on the end case but fear they are not really long enough and can't get hold of any 7mm bolts/stud and nuts from my usual very reliable shop. Thinkin of goin up a size to 8mm.

Coil pack wise i used a citroen zx volcane one and the igntion leads as its the same block, Halfords Ignition Leads HIL546 if i remember. I plated over where the dizzy was and bolted the coil pack, using studed bar, onto it. Block should already have the correct position holes. Or get a new thermostat housing just for a coil pack off the citroen zx volcane.

Cheers for that, answers a lot of questions

I haven't yet got a VR sensor but when I do, I'll be mounting it on a bracket similar to this:

I'm not sure what type of sensor in the pic is but have been told that the cam phase sensor off a mondeo is smaller than the edis vr sensor so might try one of those.

Looks very similar to a fiat one. There are plenty of those down the scrapyard and they are much more compact than Ford flywheel ones but similar diameter. Wish i had used one now on all the projects i have done.
