Gti-6 Oil Temp Sensor

Recommended Posts

Andy F

Hi people

As i have fitted a gti-6 sump to my MI to get the extra capacity etc. The oil temp sensor is different.

I have purchased a gti-6 sensor but the sensor is a 2 pin as opposed to a 1 pin like the old one was.

I just wondered if these wired the same with the added extra of a sensor earth?

Thanks

Replace it with an original 205/405 sensor. They're electrically different and will make your gauge read low. There are two sizes, M14 and M16. Just find the correct one for the GTi6 sump, and/or drill & tap the sump to suit the larger sensor.

Not sure of the size, but it's the later model one that fits.

I think it's M16.

It will be M14. I bought an oil temp sensor for a V6 negine(Pug605/Citro XM) It has got 1 pin. It's not the good one, now I know. The data sheet says it DEG110.

205 GTi oil temp sensor is DEG140 Pug number is 0242 50

I found the good one. Pug number is 0242 81 It is used after 02.09.1993 in XU5M/XU52C/XU9J2/XU92C and its DEG140 too.

I hope it will help!

I've got the 2 pin blue one in my 2.0T engine and it reads just fine...

Just connect 1 pin to earth and the other to your dashboard.

Not a problem, that the original sensors spec is 155DEG?

I've ordered the sensor mentioned above, so it doesn't matter, but I am interested in this question ;)

mine sits on the 3rd bar of the std 1900 oil temp gauge, never goes above it. Running the Mi16 engine and 'six' sump (should be called a 7 cos' that's how many ltrs it nearly holds) with mocal cooler and sandwich plate with built in oil stat

So yes it reads low, but not by much.
