Depends how much extra power? The clutch is quite a beefy diameter, so an O.E should be sufficent.

If the engine has only the original power, the 215 mm Mi flywheel and 215mm kevlar clutch will be good.

I'am using this setup.

My friend using Mi flywheel and a 215 mm sinter clutch on his 250 hp T16. Also good.

It isn't sufficent, I made sure I changed it to a good o.e one off the recommendations on here! The one I looked into was an OMP uprated one?

It has been through 2 clutches since I have had the engine running higher boost, the standard ones are designed for whatever torque mi16 gives out plus a bit more! Not 100lb/ft more!

(edited - to the Kidmans, they use a mi16 clutch not the one from the donor car)

So OMP do one then? Thanks il have a look!

Saw afew on eBay but all look proper dodgy and I dont think I'd ever buy one unless someone else had tried one and it was good.

How much was the OMP one if you can remember Bales?

The one I looked at was part number OIV/PE128/P and was about £180 I think.

Not sure how good they are though as I didn't buy it in the end and I am not sure if many people off here have used them.

There has been a lot of talk about using turbo diesel clutches etc...but again this is what I have read on here and I don't 'think' anyone has direct experience.

I am pretty sure AP racing do uprated ones but I imagine they will be pretty expensive.

Look on the YB racing website for the OMP clutches.

I have an Alcon 215mm spring clutch and holds the torque very well.

These should be stronger than the OMP, and they don't cost that much more...

I'm using a standard 215mm Mi clutch, so far so good.

Same here, doesn't slip and its nice to be able to pull away smoothly! But then I'm only putting 150lbft through it.

Didnt know you was using a smaller diameter clutch, i assumed from the title that you was using the donor engine clutch. 215mm is quite small, so your options will be limited with the torque the CT engine can produce. Can you not fit the bigger clutch/flywheel assembly? Downside is, in the original application most had a hydraulic operation so could have a heavy duty pressure plate without killing your left leg every time you change gear.

Could be worth looking at a Turbo Diesel clutch if you can find the NM rating. Possibly HDi 90, as that is almost the same torque as a CT engine (about 15 lb ft difference) and that had a BE3 box.

I thought the 215mm clutch had to be used?

I'll have a nose at the OMP ones and the Alcon ones. Got a part number for the Alcon one?

Thanks!

it does with the BE box and flywheel, you can only use the original 230mm odd one with the original flywheel and gearbox.

Is what I thought. Will it make any difference clutch wise that I have a BE1 box? Just for absolute confirmation!

Which model car clutch should i actually be looking at then, Mi ones? Which one, mi16, s16?

depends if its a 205 BE1 or not, that only affects which bearing you'd use though, still needs to be a 1.9 MI16 or BX 16v clutch.

I happen to have a sintered paddle clutch forsale, otherwise Bono has a black diamond organic friction plate I think he's selling which he upgraded to after a 50 shot of nitrous killed the std one.

Are the black diamond ones any good? Was looking at this:

Black diamond clutch

That price is for a 405 1.9 mi.

@arahan:

nope, the boost is set to 1,0bar, power might be somewhere to 190bhp, I think.

no problems, but clutching is a little bit tricky now- its a digital clutch pedal
