Hydraulic Clutch Questions

Recommended Posts

johny105_y2k

Hi chaps, The problem is when the car gets to running temperature the clutch slips after while. This all started since i swapped the slave cylinder as the old one was leaking.

I topped it up with fluid bled it and away i went.

when it slips if i re-bleed the clutch, its fine again for the next few weeks untill it requires bleeding again, its get steadily worse.

Now when i bleed it no air comes out ! the piston on the slave cylinder seems as though it is being held by the fluid.

am i right in thinking that this is the master cylinder at fault?

allthough i did read somewhere that if clutch fluid is mixed it alters the specific gravity causing it to do strange things (like this) when it gets hot.

if someone could point me in the right direction i'd be greatful as i've been bleeding it every 3weeks since febuary now

thanks

johny

Sounds to me like it is a master cylinder issue and the slave is getting pumped up.

I had a similar issue with my kit cars front brakes, the wilwood master cylinder had corroded after a few months!
