Gti-6 Fuel Hose

Recommended Posts

Hi people

Just after some opinions about fuel hoses on the gti-6 conversion.

Measuring up the hoses coming out of the 205 fuel pump they are both 8mm but the inlet to the GTi-6 rail is 10mm. I wondered if it was bst to use 10mm or just stretch the 8mm over the rail.

Thanks

I just used 8mm wherever practical, but I gave up trying, despite using heat and grunting like a sex-pest trying to get 8mm onto the larger union on the GTI6 fuel rail.

I ended up using a joiner and stepped up to 10mm (or 9.5mm IIRC) where needed, 6" from the rail.

It's the same problem with the Mi16.

I've used 8mm from the pump into the hard lines under the car, and from the hard lines to the fuel filter. Then for the outlet of the fuel filter I got a banjo with a 10mm connection and used a short 10mm hose from the filter to the fuel rail.

Using the wrong sized hose and either stretching it or trying to clamp it tighter is just asking for it to leak.

Agreed - I used 8mm, stretched to fit over the 10mm gti6 fuel rail and it would begin leaking every few days. Changed it to a bit of 10mm hose with a plastic reducer to fit into the 8mm and it's been fine ever since.

8mm on return, flow lines and used a short bit of 10mm from filter to fuel rail.

Works fine
