Smell Of Fuel Outside The Car And Poor Idle

Recommended Posts

Quarryman

Car tends to hunt for the idle when warming up and cuts out very easily. There is also a strong smell of fuel outside the car. I assume this means it's running rich? There's a brand new AFM there so doubt that's the cause.

Anything else I can check?

Can you smell it mainly when the fuel tank is practically empty!? They tend to vent more when empty giving a much stronger smell of fuel

I haven't had the car long enough to notice the difference between full/nearly empty tanks. I think the timing might be off and its running rich anyway.
