iv just done this and have used the belt fitted on my old 1.9 lump easy peasy. the only thing you need to worry about is tentioners.

i have done the same and used a shorter 8v belt, tricky bit is getting it tensioned.

i used the 8v tensoner cut down and mounted to the engine and bolted the alternator on the lower mounting points and tensioned it on the top. if that makes sense?

i dont have any pictures im afraid i can get some at some point though. you should simply be able to pull the alternator up and wedge a bolt through the hole under the alternator and it should keep it nice and tight, the only problem is that its not very adjustable.

i havent at the moment sorry, i could get some later in the week if you need?

maybe this will help?

green is fixed bolts, red slides up the std 8v tensioner to tighten the belt (which is the curved bit)

excuse the crudeness of the drawing B)

I have elected to keep the PAS pump and fit a Xsara VTS 2.4 turns lock to lock PAS rack.

This may sound like a really daft question but why are you removing the 2 pumps? Im new on here today.

because

A- a large percentage of 205's dont have PAS

and

B- a very tiny percentage have A/C,

so both are un-necessary in most cases.

306 Rallye would be the obvious choice.
