Spec Your Suspension Setup

kilauea

Engine type: 1.9 8v circa 123bhp

car use: road / track day

ride height: -30mm

 

Front setup: -30mm Autofive springs, KYB AGX shocks, grp N rubbers.

Rear setup: KYB AGX shocks, Grp A rear mounts.

 

Springs seem a bit harsh, but very predictable and solid feeling otherwise.

Shocks adjusted to 2 at front and 6 at back.

Engine Type - 1905cc 8v, 1.6 Be3 with Quaife ATB.

Car use - road & track days.

RIDE HEIGHT approx -35mm .

 

FRONT SETUP

Koni sport top adjustable "yellow" struts with Red springs as supplied in kit, group N top mount rubbers, upper & lower strut braces. Shock set to about 60% stiffness.

205 wishbones.

 

REAR BEAM

20mm torsion bars, 24mm arb

Bilstein tarmac group N shocks

zx arms.

Solid beam mounts.

 

Change to come over winter with stiffer front springs, slight lowering & 21mm torsion bars.

205 with standard Mi16 engine road car

 

Ride height, Circa -20mm

 

Front setup - 306 GTI6 struts. Eibach 20mm drop springs, OMP upper strut brace

 

Rear setup - standard bars on 1.9 axle with KYB dampers

 

If anything the dampers are a little stiff on the back, shortly changing to 306 items.

REAR BEAM

Xsara vts rear beam on custom solid mounts (21mm torson bars)

 

BRAKES

 

None yet

RIDE HEIGHT - not sure. But 'sensibly lower' than standard.

Front suspension - Gaz Golds, 300lb springs, 309 bottom arms & shafts, eccentric top mounts 309 arb and strut brace

 

 

REAR BEAM

 

Dampers - Bilstien Tarmac spec (yellow)

 

Torsion bars - 24mm

 

Arb - Std, soon to be 28mm

Alot of them no doubt are ex 205Parts items.

 

If you look through the Group Buys section i think 309PUG can still supply them. Or you can get a 306 GTi6/Xsara VTS ARB and cut it down & respline it/weld it as a cheap option.

ENGINE TYPE - Honda integra type r dc5 + box.

Car use - track mainly. Tried road and its awful.

Ride height - -50mm all round

 

FRONT SETUP - bilstein group A with 350lb springs

compbrake rose jointed arms - can't get enough castor on them.

eccentric topmounts -2 deg camber and bout 3 deg castor.

 

REAR BEAM - 309 beam with 23mm arb.

306 tarmac spec billies

solid mounts

 

WHEELS

 

pro race 1.2's with r888 and a048's

dunlop slicks yet to try

Rideheight: Not sure, can't remember what it was as standard

Compbrake eccentric topmounts, mounted on top of the shell in the 11 and 1 o'clock position

Car use: Road Rally and Fast road sometimes

Rideheight: a little higher than 1.9 gti

 

Front Setup

 

1.9 Gti front subframe (reinforced allong with warious shell braces)

309 GTI wishbones, powerflex'd

Avo adjustable dampers, Gravel spec springs (standard height)

standard 1.9 arb, powerlex bushes again

modified 10pt cage, upper + lower strut braces. PAS rack(recon). new ends

 

Rear Setup

 

1.9 GTI beam, new standard dampers

Solid BBM mounts

24mm torsion bars

 

on the road i use a set of 1.9's with some eagle f1's.. the old ones.

it wants to go a litle lower on the front idiealy. but i need the clearence for the road rallys.

Mine is as such:

 

Mi16 on Webers and Megajolt, PeterT inlet cam, etc etc approx 185bhp. Mainly track use, occasional road work.

 

Front:

 

Adjustable Koni's with generic GSF 35mm lowering springs

BBM top mounts

309 bottom arms and shafts

Stock ARB

OMP Strutbrace

Stock hubs/uprights

 

Rear:

 

309 GTI beam and TB's

Adjustable Koni's

22mm ARB

Group A mounts

 

OMP tenpoint cage with additional gussets as i saw fit :lol:

 

Brakes:

 

Front - GTI-6 Disks/calipers, Mintex 1155's, 5.1 fluid.

Rear: Stock 205 1900 GTI setup with grooved disks and Mintex pads.

 

Tyres:

 

Road: Standard Speedlines, Parada Spec 2's.

Track (dry): Bridgestone Potenza "full slicks"

Track (wet): Dunlop SP Sport "wets"
