Recommended Posts

Looking at getting some 4pots for the track 205 im about to get,

ive seen a few kits around (rally design/hi-spec) who do 285mm kits,

now will these fit under the standard alloys that come on the 1.9 gts?

cheers.

I believe they have all been designed to fit under 15" wheels.

However, 406 Brembos are very wide and require spacers.

You do have to a bit careful about the position of any wheel balancing on some of the calipers - I have GTI6 calipers and they are VERY tight, but I have one wheel that doesn't need any balancing weights and the other one has lots of flat ones!

I'm in the process of doing the same thing on my 205, although my wheels are SL434. It's worth mentioning that Rally Designs have asked me to measure the inside dia of the wheel and also the distance from the inside hub face of the wheel back to the inside of the spokes, with these measurements they can correctly spec Wilwood Midlite 4 pots for me, without me buying the kit and finding they don't fit under the wheels.

In answer to your question(sort of) I know that OE 1.9 alloys have less inside caliper clearance than the SL434 does.

Mark.

283mm 307 hdi brakes fit ok, but the weights need to be on the outside of the rim

Hi spec 285mm racing calipers will fit behind 1.9 wheels if you use a 5mm spacer, gti6 brakes will fit but you can't have weights in the outer edge.

you can use gti6 brakes and keep the balance weights on the inside of the wheel

all you'll have to do is grind a smidgen off the top and bottom edge of the calipers <_<

Without using spacers you are limiting yourself a fair bit so maybe don't be soo quick to discount using them.

I managed to fit trial fit Brembo 4 pots with a 16mm spacer but went for 20mm in the end to give a bit of safety margin.

Were the Brembos you trialfitted the 406 type ? Did you ever use them ? How did they perform ?

Cheers,

David

4 pot brembos off the 406 do fit with spacers, need to use xantia v6 disks though. Or get custom made. Havent got round to driving it to see how they perform yet though.

Just to jump in on this, as I have similar plans. Those that run spacers, has the handling/ feel of the car been affected?
