Mi16 Valve Sticking Problem

Hi,

 

A friend has a mi16 on which we are putting gsxr bodies at the moment.

The car now runs fine and is pretty nice to drive, and has very cool sound too :-)

The problem is that from time to time, one of the inlet valve gets stuck open

The engine starts running on 3 cylinders, there are flames inside the throttle body and you can feel the engine blowing through the second body.

It did it two times and it has not happened again for a few days.

I guess an oil lifter gets stuck?

Is this common? I have never experienced it with mi16 before?

Bent valve?

 

Poorly fitting/broken guide?

 

I'd be tempted to remove the head and check everything before you run the risk of it breaking big style, i.e. clashing with a piston and damaging a liner too.

I would remove the head as well if it was mine, but that's not the case.

We'll see what happens
