hispec do a direct lug fit caliper that fits over a standard late pug/citroen 266x22mm disc, which IIRC they can do an alloy bell and matching rotor for, calipers I believe are £400

or AP do a lug fit caliper that was used on the 106 and saxo cupcar, these would need an alloy bell and 270mm rotor which mike nash off the rallye register has sorted, also via hispec IIRC, these calipers are closer to £600 maybe more.

larger than that would need 15" min, there are a few renaultsport radial brembo calipers wrapped over 310mm rotors made by pendulum motorsport on the 306gti6 forum, not sure if Ash is doing any more, I think all of his kits are under a 16" wheel though.

I'm on 15" unfortunately!

Can't find the direct lug fit caliper for the 266mm disc from hispec on thir website, only the 285mm disc caliper ?

the hispecs aren't on the website.

406 brembo's coupled with the discs they need weigh the same as a 306 gti6 brake setup, and only fit under very few 15" wheels.

Has anyone ever fashioned a new Guard panel to protect their cam belt at all?

My Cam belt and Oil pump belt are precariously open to the elements so making a fiberglass panel to fit in place

Phoned HiSpec today and got told that they dont sell directly the Calipers and 2 piece disc as its been designed by a guy called Marc Boni (may be a forum member but i have no idea as people dont always use their real names) and he uses the part from HiSpec for his kits but HiSpec say that it is for the 206 set up disc which is the 266x22mm???

Im not sure of the 205 disc size off the top of my head, is it the same as the 206?

205 discs are 247x20.4mm

206 discs are 266x20.4mm

So these calipers wont work on 205 discs (unless he comes back to me and says it'll be fine) and the increase in disc size would probably equal out the weight saving on the calipers and the cost of the 266mm discs may as well go towards the 2 piece disc set so it seems for 205's the full 2 piece disc set should be bought as well as the calipers to make it worthwhile.....

266mm discs will be needed for those calipers, you'll find boni on many of the 106+saxo forums, they aren't particularly heavy, far lighter than the stock 283mm discs!

Yeh i DID have a set of 283mm discs on the front with a caliper extender bracket to run std 205 calipers and when i took them off i couldn't believe their weight, not needed for hillclimbing at all!!

Lotus 2 pots are around 1kg each. Couple that with some light (2.5-3kg ish) discs from AP fitted to some ally bells and you're looking at less than the weight of one 205 caliper for your whole brake setup per corner. :)

Yeah they're AP Racing 2-pots as standard on the Elise / Exige and VX220. :D

If you have deep pockets you can get some CP3047 discs like these:

http://www.apracing.com/product_details/race_car/brake_discs/ventilated_discs/ø285mm/25.4mm_thickness/177.8mm_p.c.d.-bolted-cp3047-276/277.aspx

I think the 44mm pad depth is right for the 2-pots, and they're 3.1kg each for 285mm x 25.4mm.

If you don't mind having some pad overhang then you can get 280mm x 25.4mm that weigh 2.7kg. :D

usually ends in the cam belt snapping.

Thanks mate

What bracket/adaptor is required to fit these calipers to the 205?

Depends on your choice of disc and wheels, but you'd need some custom brackets and bells made up. I have a design that I could modify for you if you're interested.

It all depends on price really as i dont want to spend a fortune on front brakes:

I can go the HiSpec/Marc Boni 4 pot set up route as follows:

Calipers £425

HiSpec 266mm 2 Piece Discs £400

or Std 266mm Discs £100

or

Lotus 2 pot set up

Calipers (say) £200

Brackets etc £???

HiSpec 266mm 2 piece Disc £400

or Std 266mm Disc £100

or what else will fit?

The lightweight AP discs will set you back a cool £300 each.

£150-200 for the calipers is reasonable, but don't forget you'll need decent pads at around £90 too!

Bells will be something like £100 each, as will brackets, but it all depends on how friendly you are with your CNC guys. All in you could be looking at £1300 ish. It all depends on how much value you put on reducing weight!
