You could always recess the chassis rail in that area to bring the bumper up higher and allow more travel. Depends on your class regs and modifying between wheel centres though.

Yeh dont think that would be allowed, i would like to recess the bump stops into the chassis rail more because the majority of the bump stop is the metal cup which holds the rubber stop in place

so can you do away with the torsion bars with those then??

i cant see that the dampers alone have enough of an angle on the trailing arm to be as effective as a vertical damper would so without the torsion bars these dampers must have to work very hard.

Unless you are already running in Sports Libre Simon these would move you into is as you can't fundamentally change the suspension type, so TB to coilvers even if they retain the same position wouldn't be to regs.

Yeh mate i would never been considering anything like that, just need to find myself more travel on the rear end without raising it up meaning sinking or shortening the bump stops further, im suprised no ones developed uprated shorter and harder bump stops for the rear

Can only find these Powerflex:

thats what I mentoned a few posts back.

I wouldn't go sticking hard3er bump stops, it'll make the end of suspension travel, and hence grip, very abrupt!

Now looking into some expensive batteries, i need to sourse a new batery for the car anyway and i have been told about lithium ion batteries which are unbeleivably light and with way more CCA than any lead battery

This is what i am looking at:

http://www.racingbatteries.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=91:rbc400&catid=9:batteries

Check out that weight................thats some serious weight savings over my Red Top 25 at 7kg!!

Can you imagine picking up a battery that'll start your car and only weight 1kg.............

Do your regs require you to run a battery? If not, why don't you have a 'starter-pack' and run no battery?

Yes the car must be able to be started by an on board power source (even though I use jump packs to start it it must be seen I could start it unassisted)

Plus how can you run an ecu etc with no battery?

Assumed jump packs would power ECU to start car and then alternator would take over supplying power while the engine is running? Anyway, it's all inconsequential as you need to carry a battery regardless ;)

Ah ok yeh makes sense

Unfortunately I'll have to go the 250£ 1kg route

Anyone know if you charge a lithium ion battery the same as a normal lead battery or if you need a special charger? (probably equally as expensive)

You need a special charger. You also cant leave them cranking for too long and you must also prevent it from draining too much. My mate has all this hassle with his bike lion battery.

I would still use my jump packs to start the car ( I assume a normal lead battery can still be plugged inline with the ion battery for a boost??)

I'll make some enquiries today

sod the hassle and expense, I'd rather a heavier battery and just concentrate on the driving, I bet you'd be quicker if you did that!

He will be able to do you a battery for around £150 mate. Li-ion, charged with standard alternator so plug-and-play. 220CCA, 4.5-35CA, 1kg, wont need extra boost or anything.

Cant turn your nose up at a 6kg weight saving............

Can possibly get my down to 715kg which in a limited class as to what i can do for weight loss (ie no lightening holes) that's very light and would give me 315bhp per tonne
