im pretty sure it was up in the 120ish mph as its geared for 125mph at 6500rpm with my 15" slicks but we used my 16" road tyres and didnt hit the new 7k rpm limit

No graphs unfortunately, cant remember the exact reason for this though, will need to ask Sandy again. I saw 198.9bhp on the large RR Gauge which is at the wheels obviously, not sure on how to concert to Flywheel to compare to Mass printout.

These rollers aren't calibrated and with the amount of engine dyno work I do these days, I trust rollers results less and less! So don't take the figures too literally, but some indication of the curve at least (at the wheels, steady state, 4th gear)

Great thanks for that Sandy, for me it's more the drivability and smoothing the power out was a must and that seems to have been accomplished and some so I'm very happy, just need to get myself a new starter so I can road test it and then smash the old starter to bits for wastIng our time!!

Now the weight reduction efforts begin!! Up to 70kgs to loose from her!!

OK, so my wife's getting fed up with me keep playing your RR video but even she had to admit it does sound good!

Fantastic work, have really enjoyed following your build. Bet you can't wait to get out tearing up the tarmac in anger!

I've lost count the amount of times I've watched but it was the real load runs that Sandy kept doing that really had me twitching, I found myself standing back in the garage waiting for an explosion of metal, I've never heard an engine work so hard thankfully only for seconds at a time so I could start breathing again and I think I am now slightly deaf from the intense induction noise!!

This whole build has not been easy and the amount of problems I have had to overcome over the 18month build have really taught me skills in persistence and patience but so so worth it!!

Let the 2012 season begin and I'll try my very best to get to the uk to do an event so would be great to meet some forum members, Sandy being the only one at the moment.

Gurston Down is my haunt, I try to get there for a couple of meetings a year if I can, so far only as a spectator sadly but my wife has bought me a day at their hillclimb school in May, so I can't wait to point my 205 up the track too!

I've no doubt there'd a be a good forum turnout if you were able to get over here, your work has been a source of much interest.

Not sure what seat you're using, how about something like

B4-frontview.jpg

4kg (with out mounts) or they do a more extreme version @ 2.75kg  (clicky).

A nice weight saving over 'normal' seats e.g. my Cobra Monaco S are 9.6kg without mounts!

Not sure what regs you have to comply with and if these seats would be ok. - not cheap though so best to continue chopping bits out first as that's free!

Haha yeh thanks for the help but like you said I'll be stickin with the free or fairly cheap weight savings first as I have planned getting down to 740-750kg and only spending a few hundred.

Once I have got to this then it will be down to spending big money on lightweight fixtures and fittings which I'm not intending on doing unless they need replacing!

What gearbox are you using? Sounds very close geared!

I am running a 1600 box which did have all the 1600 gears and a 4.4 FD but just before the rollers session I changed 1st gear to the 1900 ratio and put back in the 1600 4.06 FD. Will post up my top speeds in each gear later as it is now geared perfectly for my hillclimb, think it was something like 80mph in 3rd and topped out at 125mph in 5th and that's with my 15" wheels, on the rollers we were using my road 16" wheels so would have been slightly slower pick up but more top end!

See attached my new gearing speeds with the new ratios in the box plus the new 7000 rev limit, Gear Change lights are set at 6500rpm so i have included the speeds at the change point aswel.

Avon 8.7x21.5x15 i have converted for the Ratio Spreadsheet to 213x43.7x15, 213mm is the tread width that Avon state for this tyre.

Please see the pics, both are Nissens Rads, the first is 205 without Air Con and is the rad i have always known for a 205. The second is With Air Con and seems to have its own header tank built in so would hold much more water in the rad and able to be filled.

Has anyone ever fitted the 2nd Air Con rad and removed the std header tank and just used the rad as a header tank because it has the filler cap and holds the extra water?!

Personally I think it's better to have the header tank separate to the radiator. I'm sure there must be less chance of air bubbles with a separate one.

Maybe if you're looking to save weight and reduce your coolant volume, you could get a nice little aluminium one in place of the large standard one? That is if you haven't already!

I have the later model black header tank which is the smallest as std was just wondering if anyone had taken advantage of the larger volume and filler cap in the Nissens air con rad, seems pointless otherwise!!

I can't figure out why it'd be needed! The only thing I can think of is maybe to make cold filling easier when the thermostat is closed.

Well looks like ill get myself a Nissens Non Air Con Rad, i think these are even lighter than standard so thats good and i have asked a few companies for weights of their header tanks to compare to standard but i am not going to spend a fortune on a header tank as i dont see the point so if i can spend maybe 40quid and save a couple of kgs i will but anymore then i wont bother just yet!!

Whats the smallest size header tank i could get away with, am unsure of the std volume but am thinking must be 2 ltrs, i have seen a header tank for 0.5ltrs

I wouldn't be able to say, got pretty much zero knowlege on cooling systems, though I'm pretty confident in saying 0.5l is probably just a bit too small.

.5L will be fine.

It will have an overflow so will find its own level, just make sure you run it up when first fitting, get it nice and hot (not too hot obviously). Will kick out any excess and when its cool you have your level!
