Removing Pas Rack Centre Slop?

I remember reading a thread the other day where somebody said they had managed to remove the vague central slop from their PAS rack.. Does anyone know what's involved? I'd quite like to give it a bash on my VTS rack before fitting it.

Is this just packing out the pin behind the little cover on the rack? Or do you guys do something more in-depth?

Shim the rack bar up too otherwise the meshing pattern isn't right.
