cheers for pics,

by alloy steel i now realise you mean the spare from a c5 with alloys,

thought it might have been something like we have at vauxhall as in the structural steelie.

what brakes can you get under these c5 wheels though?

People call them alloy 'steelies' because they look like steelies and are fitted to low model C5s but are made of alloy. Hence the low weight.

Thats not what he meant, and C5s with alloys have an alloy spare, mine does anyway.

I don't dispute the cost factor new alloys are always going to cost more than scrapyard steels :)

I only refer to these as some people don't have such an issue with cost, and should be aware that the OZ's are an option for ultimate performance. The Supers have now been superceded by the Ultraleggeras (similar weight).

The team dynamics pro race rims are 7kg I believe, but it is difficult to get the info.

Steel is iron cast/mixed with carbon is it not ?

Does that make it alloy ? Which means aluminum is it not ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel

Steel is an alloy consisting mostly of iron, with a carbon content between 0.2% and 2.1% by weight, depending on the grade. Carbon is the most cost-effective alloying material for iron, but various other alloying elements are used such as manganese, chromium, vanadium, and tungsten.

Alloy wheels are not just Aluminium, rarely is pure aluminium used in anything, as it is too soft on its own.

Typical mixtures include Magnesium and silicon amongst others such as titanium (in small amounts).

I got mine off ebay for £110.

As said above, they are an aluminium alloy, found on the diesel C5 (possibly others too). I think it has to the earlier car as the later ones came with 16s.

They also add some stealth quality to the car!
