Electrical Windows Stopped Working

Recommended Posts

The windows were working fine but now don't have checked the fuse and all OK there, which of the 5 relays on the board is the window one?

Any other thoughts too?

The drivers window is currently down so cant go anywhere till I get it sorted

Not stripped the trims off yet, neither driver or passenger window works.

You dont need to strip the trims to get to the leccy motor.

If you gently pull the door pocket from the door, you can lift the complete window control unit out.

I had this recently, swapped the switch, been fine since.

I now have the door trim off now, currently cant see the motor or anyway to get the window up mechanically for now.

I had presumed it wasn't the drivers door switch as it has taken out the passenger window too, cant get any evidence of power at the drivers door switch plugs.

Going back to the relays on the fuse board, I have 3 green ones (transposed those around - no diff), a blue and a black. Can anyone point me in the direction of the one that's the window relay?

OK,

Now taken the assembly out of the car and the motor works fine and dandy, gonna try and get it all back together with the window now up then revisit the fuseboard and try and pinpoint the relay.

FYI, if the drivers door switch dies, it stops the passenger side working too, as the wiring for the passenger side goes through the drivers switch.

Cheers matey, got the window back up after removing everything and using a 12v supply to motor the mechanism to the correct place.

Now need the time to get to grips with what has gone wrong and get it all working again.

Having had a "Google" it appears I don't have the relay cover from the fuse board.

Guess if I can get one of them it may tell me which relay is the window one

Well a trip to the breakers today yielded a relay cover for the fuse box and one of each colour relay, having discovered that the blue relay is the wiper one I changed the black one and the windows now work from the drivers door, passenger switch is dead but no great shakes there.
