I agree with you that putting an 8v is the best for a proper rebuild like this. Only problem with 8v is the management, just get some carb's on there :) Good to see silver alloys

I have just put in a gti6 after restoring my car. I tend to drive much more chilled since now all the panels are actually the same colour, the trim isn't hanging off, and the engine works- and just enjoy the car. I won't be putting it through a hedge if I can help it :P I'm sure you've seen how beautiful allye's rallye was before the crash?

Have you seen the french 205 forum? http://www.club205gti.fr/ A lot of beautiful original cars. Once you have a look at a few of them you'll be convinced. If there are parts you are finding it hard to get a hold of you could try there? I had a job getting all the grey trim since my car is a phase 1.5, same as yours? Autofive have got everything except the tailgate and passenger side door in grey. Savagely expensive. Those full leather seats are going to look great once finished

UPDATE:

Cars getting on now, mainly engine work left to finish.

- Interior is 98% Complete only a few trim items and stereo bits to finish

- Bodywork is 98% Complete couple of bits to paint and thats it

- Engine is 90% Complete, Injection system is the main parts to finish & Coolant hoses.

- Exhaust is 10% Complete, need to install downpipe, centre and rear box.

- Brakes are 90% Complete, All bleed through but got to re-check O/S/F Caliper as think it may be sticking and not bleeding correctly.

So all in all not too far off really :)

Ill get some images up over the weekend to show whats been done.

Nice work, very nice to see one restored. Being local I should pop round sometime for a chat and a good look :)

Give me a few pointers for my restore job coming up :)

Great work!

Where did you get those wings from?

Are you not cutting the holes for your indicators?

Sorry, Havent had much time to get on recently to update.

Not too sure what i am going to do with regards to the indicators? The wings were from Allparts in exeter, not to sure of there supplier.

Bled the brakes day before yesterday, so they are all complete apart from 1 handbrake cable to fit.

Bodywork is basically there, justy a couple little bits.

Looking good Nick.

A nice new fresh set of rear lights would finish it off a treat.

Yeah they look a bit grubby in the pics, not sure why? they look ok normally :)

Got to sort out the rear suspension aswell as its slightly higher on the right side.

Not too sure what i am going to do with regards to the indicators?

Take it for an MOT and see what happens. My mates J reg 205 went through 5 or 6 MOTs before a tester noticed the lack of side repeaters.

The 205 front indicators do show from the side slightly, so dependant on the tester, you may 'get away with it'.

I think it looks a little naked without them

I think it looks a little naked without them

I know what you mean but they were sold without side repeaters in Europe and other countries so it's not 'wrong' as such.

Purchased a clifford alarm and immobiliser for the car this week, hopefully will get fitted soon.

Car is all but ready now, have had it running and drove it off drive to turn around the other day.

Looking great nickaliath, i love that colour :)

Did you revert back to the 1.9 ?

Im thinking of getting another 205 1.9 gti and restoring that with its original engine, but do things a little different to my current project.

I have one of three colours to choose from my favorites.

This project has taken far longer than i first expected, but there you go with a wife, 2 kids and a mortgage its not too bad LOL

Hello All, Sorry for long time updating progress.

Car is now on the road :) Drives absolutely brilliant, tightest 205 i have driven! :)

There is still a few bits to do on it but nothing major. Mainly a new SAD pipe.

I will get some pics up by weekend :)
