Battery Drain On 205 Turbo

Recommended Posts

rapidcossie

Battery lasts about 2 days when connected to the car.

Seems to hold charge no probs when main earth is disconected on battery, which eliminates dodgy battery.

Are there any common things to check on 205s?

cheers

Euan

Alarms, stereos/amps and the boot light are the three usual candidates, but a few minutes with a multimeter should identify the circuit that's drawing excessive current, and from there it shouldn't be too hard to track it down.

its a track car Ant so no stereo whatso ever.

It does have an Alarm.

How do you trace what circuit is causing drain?

disconnect the battery and connect a multimeter inline to measure the drain, then unplug items until the drain drops.

do as wp says but quickest way is to pull the fuses ot one by one to see what affects the reading then trace whats on that fused circuit

edit> you can put it either inline with positive or negative
