Oil Temp Sender Wiring

Just doing a spot of fettling prior to winter starting this weekend, std 1.6GTI.

 

Can someone advise as to where the wire running down to the sump mounted oil temp sender originates?

 

I went to let in a new section of wire to replace the broken existing but couldn't find the wire anywhere, apart from the 2" still attached to the sender.

It should go to/come from the brown multi-plug in the engine bay, usually sitting by the TDC/VR sensor on the gearbox. This is the crappy plug that corrodes (see picture in attached doc) and causes problems too.

 

Beyond that it goes back to the dash and the gauge via the larger of the 2 brown multi-plugs under the steering column.
