Mi 16 Crankshaft/engine Query

Recommended Posts

craig_007

What problems am I likely to come across running a 1900 8 valve crankshaft in my MI 16,I'm in the process of building a spare engine,I have the MI block, pistons, rods etc but the crank that I have is not from an MI ?

I'm putting this together using 83.5mm Omega high compression pistons and balanced rods,Is there much to be gained using these oversized pistons(I have the liners to suit also) I had toyed with the idea of selling the piston, liners and rods on if there wasn't much to be gained !

Also, does anyone have a rough idea of what the compression ratio of these pistons is likely to be ?(Omega 3095 83.5mm pistons)

Now if I am to run these pistons am I right in saying I will require some longer duration cams(I was thinking along the lines of the catcams 4900528)

Are the valve cutouts on these pistons likely to have enough out of them to run these cams ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Craig

I think you have to use 8v rods on the 8v crank due to journal sizes.
