Engine Loom Part Nos

Recommended Posts

MrG

I've tried to search but with no luck, the car I have seems to have 2 looms for the same purpose (the car has been stripped before I got it), both have the connection for the ECU but one seems to have more connectors etc than the other. But I can just about make out the part no listed on each.

The car is a 91 car with ABS and PAS.

Any help would be appreciated. Oh and any pointers to mating up the various plugs etc may help me, as I can't make head nor tail of a wiring diagram?

I just finished this today (CLICK) which is a '91 onwards reference guide for everything engine related to 1.6 & 1.9 8v engines.

It includes looms or 'harnesses' so shows part numbers. You can even get to the harnesses by typing 'harn' into the Acrobat search bar. :(

You want things related to XU9JA or JAZ depending if your car has a cat or not, which is the blue or orange highlighted components.

What it won't show you and is extremely difficult to do without pictures (because there aren't any) is how it goes together.

It would help if YOU posted some pictures up and could I suggest one thing? These looms were designed with plugs on so a French monkey could assemble them on a production line, so don't think it's more complicated than it needs to be. The answer will be quite simple, just think through what the engine management loom needs to talk to in order to work.

Dr, many thanks. Yes I will post a pic up but to be honest I was a little stumped by taking so much wiring out of the car that it wasn't until the other night I realised what I had?

I'll take a look at your link in a mo so many thanks for that. As for the connections, it was trying to figure out what went where however I appreciate that this isn't exactly easy via a forum so I'm downloading any pic I can locate of wiring in situ that may give me a head start.

I'll stick some pics up later today when I'm at the unit with the car (and all its associated bits!)

well I think I've sussed it.

Laid both looms out side by side. One had many more connectors than the other, so started to id the injector leads. Next was the AFM connector, then the coil connector, now one loom had this (the one with fewer connectors) but the other loom didn't have this. So I've reinstalled the one that fixes to the coil.

So I'll get a pic of this extra loom, but also what is puzzling is I have an extra AFM with airbox mounted directly to it? Pics to follow of these so someone hopefully can pinpoint what they are. But for now a pic of the car as I received it, loads of wires?? One big jigsaw puzzle.
